The idea to found a "Konstanz Rugby Club" came to Stephan Grumbt, now an honorary member and disability commissioner of the city of Konstanz, during a stay abroad. There, he enthusiastically learned the game and, upon his return, began searching for like-minded individuals, among whom he found Georg Holek. Thus, on February 10, 1996, the Rugby Club Konstanz was founded. In the same year, the club was admitted to the Rugby Association of Baden-Württemberg and the German Rugby Association (now Rugby Germany). In the year 2000, the Rugby Club Konstanz was registered as a non-profit organization in the club register.
